Amazing customer service
I went grocery shopping today at Meijer. I bought 4 bottles of the Meijer brand soap that were on sale 1/2 off. Well, I got home and realized the cashier didn't give them to me...they must have been left behind on the bag spinner. I have always seen the cashiers check the bags and I usually do...but when I am paying, putting my bags in a cart and watching Natalie I don't always think to check. I called to see if the soap was turned into the service desk so that I could pick them up at a later time or at least get store credit....nope...instead Meijer had someone drive the soap out to my house! I thought that was great customer service! Just another pleasant reminder why I do my shopping at Meijer.

Must be my lucky day!
I am finally registered with subbing and have done a few days already. I subbed last Friday for half and day which went very well. I also subbed Monday and half a day Tuesday...I have to sub again this coming Friday. Yesterday I got a call around 1pm that the Later Elementary wanted me to come in for half the day...the teacher's son broke his arm and had to leave. I was with 5th graders and they were wonderful! I am so glad I got the call, this is the school I want to do most of my subbing at...it's the school I went to and Natalie will start there next year.
A couple weekends ago I took Natalie to Wedel's for the Petting Zoo they had going on. While we were there I put our name in the box to win a bike while Natalie was getting a tattoo on her cheek of a dalmation wearing a fireman's cap. Well, I got a call last night that we won the bike! The Fire Dept. is coming over on Nov. 1 to size Natalie and she can then pick a bike. Since there are so many scams in the World nowadays, i feel a little reluctant to be excited. I asked my parents to come over while the Fire Dept. is here...that way they can share in the excitement....but, the real reason is to be safe.
I also got my $25 gas gift card in the mail yesterday. When I signed up for ATT cell service I picked a pink Sony Ericsson camera phone...that came with a $25 gas gift card. I am so glad I got the card now, especially with gas prices being under $3 a gallon!
So, finally some things to boost my spirits lately. I've been a bit down lately. I've been so frustrated with not finding a job and wondering how the sub calls would be. I also worry about long term...I just hope I'll be able to use my college degree for my own classroom someday. I'm so glad the sub calls are starting to come in and I know of a possible long term spot for someone leaving for maternity leave in Jan. If the offer comes, I'll accept it...it'll double my pay and give me a world of experience. I know the feelings I have been having of feeling like a failure and depression are being expereinced by a lot of people in the world due to the struggling economy. I pray things start looking up soon!

TGIF!
I can not believe it is already Friday! Yesterday, Natalie had what I thought would be her final appt with her ear doc regarding her tubes. She's had them in abou a year and 2 months so I thought for sure they would have fallen out by now. Nope! She did an outstanding job taking her hearing test and it appears that the left ear is working at 100% and th right at 80%. The doc said he's not concerned about the 80%...I just hope he means it. I don't want her to have tubes put in again.
I am subbing this afternoon. It's only half a day but I am really looking forward to it. I have some butterflies in my stomach right now becaseu I am a bit nervous too. I have never been in this school before, which doesn't bother me. The one thing I am always nervous about is dismissal. It just seems kids are leaving this way and that, going with this person, headed to a bus, walking home....I just like to know that they are safe. Do you know that person? Are they suppose to check in with the office first? Etc...You can never be too safe nowadays!
Tomorrow night is my crop night at the coffee house. For the past year and a half we have all met at either Wendy's house, a couple times at Debs and then the last couple times at Jenny's. This will be our 3rd month at teh Coffee House. It's so nice there, it has a ton of space and it has the rich aroma of coffee. The place closes at 3pm on Saturdays so we usually get in there around 4pm and leave around 11 or 12. We each pretty much get our own table and enjoy a night of scrapping.
CSI spoiler...do not read if you haven't watch last nights episode.
I get way too involved when I watch TV sometimes...well, last night was no exception. I watched my CSI. I guess I missed the final episode before the summer ended so I missed the Warrick was shot. Anywho, it was a great episode...not happy that Warrick is gone. I always liked his character. I hate it when there is a crooked cop too! At least this one was caught! I love my CSI and CSI:Miami...never got into New York! Anyhow...good episode...must of been if I sat down for the wholet thing.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I am sure we all know someone who has been affected by this terrible thing! My Grandma Wolff passed away from breast cancer on Oct 30 of 1990. I got this email yesterday and thought I'd pass it along with everyone.
I just got this email and thought it was worth passing along, especially it being Breat Cancer Awareness Month.
The Breast Cancer site is having trouble getting enough people to
click on their site daily to meet their quota of donating at least one
free mammogram a day to an underprivileged woman. It takes less
than a minute to go to their site and click on 'donating a mammogram'
for free (pink window in the middle).
This doesn't cost you a thing. Their corporate sponsors /advertisers
use the number of daily visits to donate a mammogram in exchange
for advertising.
Here's the web site! Pass it along to people you know.

Scrapbook Heaven October Kit
I can not say enough how much I LOVED working with the mini house album from Scrapbook Heaven First of all, anyone who knows my scrapbook layouts lately knows how much I love working with Pink Paislee and this kit was full of it!! I added some pics in the slide show that are closeups of the stickles on the flowers and trim of the journaling spots.
When I was finished making my album I used some scraps to make a door hanging...I literally used the box the kit came in and attached some papers and ribbon to make it.

October GDT at Coordinates Collections
I am very proud to say that I am the Guest Designer for the month of October at Coordinates Collections. I received a kit packed full of Halloween papers and goodies.
Here is a pic...a complete photo will be on the site soon.
So far, I have only created a Haunted House. Here is a pic of it
I started off roughly meaursing the sides of the house and trimmed paper to fit. I then used Modge Podge to adhere it. I did this same procedure again with the roof, ledge and underside of the ledge. Once I adhered all of the paper with some Modge Podge I use a sanding tool and went along the edges to distess the edges. What Haunted House is clean on the edges? I also used some Modge Podge to adhere the pumpkin ribbon and cat die cuts.
I then adhered the spider die cuts to some black twine I had in my stash and adhered them to the roof so they dangled.
Finally, I used Modge Podge (again!) and applied it to the hemp twine and waited for it to dry. I did this to make the hemp twine stiffer so that when I adhered the bats they would look as though they were flying in the sky.
